Getting started
What is ScoreMax?
ScoreMax is an evidence-led learning and assessment platform. It helps you practise, diagnose weaknesses, follow a Study Plan, verify improvement and prepare for the structure of your examination.
What should I do after signing in?
Start with the recommendation on your Dashboard. New students are normally guided to set a pathway or complete a short diagnostic so ScoreMax can personalise the next step.
Why can I see subjects marked Coming Soon?
The academic catalogue shows subjects and future routes even before the approved question bank is ready. Only subjects marked Live can currently create governed ScoreMax tests.
What is the Pathway Explorer?
It helps Matric students explore routes such as Pre-Medical, Pre-Engineering, Computer Science, Commerce and Humanities without locking them into a decision.
Practice, Study Plans and mastery
What is the difference between Practice and Assess My Mastery?
Practice helps you learn and improve. Formal mastery requires broader, repeated and sufficiently independent evidence under the active mastery policy.
What do Core, Stretch and Peak mean?
They describe preparation intensity, coverage pace, testing rhythm and recovery depth. They are not mastery levels and they no longer promise one fixed number of minutes every day.
How does ScoreMax choose my weekly workload?
It considers your pathway, exam date, current coverage, target and realistic weekly availability. The result is a recommended weekly range, not an instruction to study every available minute.
What are ScoreMax mastery levels?
Foundation, Exam Ready, Advanced, Distinction, Expert and Elite are evidence levels. Commercial Access and Study Plan pathways are separate.
What does Verification Due mean?
Your earlier evidence is preserved, but fresh evidence is needed to reconfirm that the learning remains stable. A calendar date alone does not automatically downgrade you.
Can an improved answer prove recovery?
Improving an answer is valuable practice, but verified recovery normally needs a later clean unseen attempt rather than editing the same response after feedback.
Tests, mocks and exam structure
How many questions can I put in a custom test?
Design My Own Test supports up to 60 questions for an hour-style practice session, subject to enough approved questions being available.
What is an Authentic Full Mock?
It follows the exact active assessment blueprint, including required subjects or sections. ScoreMax blocks authentic release if a required allocation is missing.
Why are Diagnostic tests different from mocks?
A diagnostic deliberately focuses on your needs and may deviate from official exam proportions. It is labelled Diagnostic so it cannot be mistaken for an authentic mock.
Can I practise past papers?
Yes, where ScoreMax has permission to reproduce them. Historical papers and ScoreMax original mocks are labelled separately.
Why does my result show a blueprint version?
It preserves which official assessment structure governed that test. Later blueprint changes never silently rewrite historical results.
Account, support and safety
What are Free, Level 1, Level 2 and Full Access?
They are commercial access levels. Access unlocks opportunities; mastery still has to be earned through evidence.
How do Academic Messages protect my phone number?
Accepted teacher–student relationships can communicate inside ScoreMax without publicly sharing personal phone numbers. Messaging remains subject to consent, moderation and safeguarding controls.
How do I report an incorrect question?
Use Report this question from the question or result page. ScoreMax captures the technical question and attempt references automatically—you do not need database IDs.
Where can I find ScoreMax articles and official channels?
Open the Knowledge Hub for governed articles and Connect with ScoreMax for enabled official social channels.
I forgot my password. What should I do?
Use Forgot password on the login page. A successful reset invalidates older signed-in sessions for your protection.
How can schools, teachers and parents use ScoreMax?
Teachers can manage classes and governed assessments; parents can see permitted evidence-based progress; institutions can view appropriate cohort information within their organisation.
